The Christmas Tree Bird

A tale of unexpected magic

Tommy loved decorating the Christmas tree with his family. They hung shiny ornaments, wrapped sparkly tinsel around the branches, and plugged in the colorful lights that twinkled like stars.

But when they reached into the decoration box for the tree topper, it wasn't there.

"Oh no," said Mom. "It must have broken last year."

Tommy's smile turned into a frown. Every Christmas tree needed something special on top. Now their tree looked empty up there.

That night, Tommy heard a soft chirping sound. Tap, tap, tap at the window.

He ran to look and saw a little red bird shivering in the cold. Snowflakes were falling all around it.

"Mom! Dad! There's a bird outside!" Tommy called.

Dad opened the window just a little, and the bird flew right inside. It was lost and cold and looking for somewhere warm.

The little bird fluttered around the living room. Then it flew up, up, up and landed right on the tippy-top of the Christmas tree!

It fluffed its bright red feathers and settled in among the pine needles. The lights made its feathers glow like a beautiful ornament.

Tommy clapped his hands. "Look! We have a tree topper after all!"

The bird chirped a happy song.

The family put out seeds and water for their little visitor. The bird stayed on top of the tree all through Christmas, singing cheerful songs and making their home feel even more magical.

"This is better than any decoration we could have bought," said Mom, giving Tommy a hug.

And Tommy agreed. This was the most special Christmas tree ever.
